Beschreibung
This presentation employs an interdisciplinary framework to investigate contemporary Hinduism, focusing on Gaṇeśa as an important deity in modern religious contexts. I will examine how the intersection of textuality and ritual practices shapes the materiality and significance of Gaṇeśa, particularly during his grand festival in the state of Maharashtra. By analyzing Gaṇeśa's manifestations in both texts and practices, I aim to illuminate the dynamic interplay between tradition and modernity within contemporary Hinduism. This exploration not only reveals the complexities of contemporary Hindu identity but also highlights the broader socio-cultural transformations that influence religious expressions today. This interdisciplinary perspective allows me to explore how the interplay between tradition and innovation in contemporary practices responds to social change and engages with the complexities of modern India.Zeitraum | 12 Dez. 2024 |
