Abstract
In mountainous regions, landslides constitute one of the most prominent natural hazards globally. Besides determining location and dimensions, it is also of crucial importance for comprehensive assessments to determine their spatio-temporal dynamics. Related activity is
commonly assessed by continuous landslide monitoring. This contribution focusses on three landslide observatories in Lower Austria, operated by the ENGAGE working group at the University of Vienna. These long-term monitoring sites are equipped with a variety of surface
and underground monitoring devices, to better understand their interaction between different components (e.g., rainfall) and consequently, to delineate the underlying landslide dynamics. The obtained data are useful to better understand surface and subsurface structures, spatio-temporal changes of a variety of parameters and consequently slope stability. Ultimately, the knowledge of these interactions provides the basis for future early warning systems.
