Abstract
Based on my research on barriers and facilitators regarding education for children with disabilities in Addis Ababa (Schiemer 2017), this paper puts a special emphasis on the parents’ perspectives on schooling of their children with disabilities. This article focuses on changes in attitudes of parents towards disability in the context of education and possibilities to turn parents’ capabilities into functionings to support their children. In the conclusion, I will identify important conversion factors and parental capabilities to support children with disabilities in Addis Ababa.
