N2 - In this paper we study the influence of the degree a mobile app is gamified on the motivation of its users. In particular, we created three versions of the same job application app, one without gamification, one with modest gamification, and one with heavy gamification. We then asked 21 student participants about their motivation to use either of these versions. Statistical analysis shows that gamification indeed increases motivation, but there is no significant difference between modest and heavy gamification.
