Abstract

Gravitational perturbations play an important role in multi body systems. Phenomena like mean motion or secular resonances can be sources of instability and influence the architecture of a planetary system significantly. The determination of the location of these resonances is therefore of particular interest. In this study, we use a semi-analytical approach for S-type motion in binary stars which defines the position of a linear secular resonance without huge integration effort. We show the application to several tight binary stars where a giant planet has been detected and study a possible influence on the habitable zone. Moreover, we discuss the consequences for an Earth-like planet in the habitable zone that is affected by such a resonance.
