Microscopic self-dynamics in liquid hydrogen and in its mixtures with deuterium

    Abstract

    The measurement of dynamic structure factor of liquid parahydrogen, pure and mixed with deuterium in various thermodynamic conditions was presented. The high-energy parts of the neutron spectra recorded in backward scattering were analyzed using Young and Kopple model. The low-energy parts of the neutron spectra recorded in forward scattering were studied using Gaussian approximation and a Levesque-Verlet model for the velocity autocorrelation function. Analysis shows that the velocity autocorrelation functions derived from forward-scattering data is unable to properly describe the backward-scattering one.
