Abstract

This volume discusses topical issues in the context of teaching and learning English as a foreign or second language (EFL/ESL) and shows new ways in which language teachers can create learning environments that support learners in unleashing their full potential. It includes practical as well as theoretical ideas and addresses numerous intriguing questions in the field:

How can we ease the transition from kindergarten to primary school for learners of the English language? What language learning materials motivate learners in primary schools? What didactic frameworks can be employed to effectively use songs in the EFL classroom? How do specific qualities of language educators impact learning processes in the EFL classroom? What role does peer-feedback among student teachers play in improving their writing skills? What are the advantages and disadvantages of utilizing AI-tools such as chatbots in language instruction? How can fostering creativity and collaboration in tertiary education aid teacher educators in addressing the challenges posed by AI?

Our authors offer answers and aim to encourage discussion about these aspects of teaching and learning EFL/ESL.
