This essay examines the culture of criticism in the Book of Job and places it in the context of eristic dialectics. It compiles the various disputes in the Book of Job and shows how the argumentative athmosphere is one of being right rather than finding a common answer. This is not only the case with the bet between God and Satan, that leads to Job's test, but this also divides Job and his friends. As for God, Job challenges him to a legal battle and deplores his silence as unjust action.
