    Abstract

In a longitudinally dividing gammaproteobacterium that lives attached to marine nematodes, sisters ori and ter segregate along both the short and the long axis. This diagonal segregation is likely mediated by the centromeric protein ParB. As septation starts and progresses, medial sister ter migrate toward one another. Bidimensional segregation of the symbiont chromosome mediates transgenerational maintenance of its orientation toward the animal host.
