Abstract

The growing number of immigrant pupils and increasingly culturally and religiously mixed classes in schools have risen an awareness and sensitivity for interreligious relations. Inter-religious learning and interreligious dialog require a perspective change and a focus on the students as subjects and actors in their interreligious encounter. Due to this proposal, a few studies have asked for students' perceptions of and dealing with religious diversity in schools and among the religious education. The present paper will exhibit results from a research project on this special issue in a Viennese school. We asked for students' experience, perception, and negotiation strategies in the face of religious diversity using the method of writing narratives and story-telling to communicate their attitudes.
