Description

We are delighted to announce the second talk in the GDC-wide series "Decolonizing Decoloniality: Reflections from xxx". Every two months or so, we will have an informal conversation with scholars from Mexico, Indonesia, Taiwan, Mozambique/Angola and other parts of the world to explore the extent to which conversations around decolonizing knowledge are happening, what they are actually about, and what the stakes are. The second session on April 5 is titled “Decolonizing Methodology?: Doing Fieldwork in Cross-Cultural Collaborations between Indonesia and Germany”. The session will be a transnational conversation between Indonesia and Germany, featuring Sita Hidaya (Lecturer at the Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta) and Judith Schlehe (Professor in the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Freiburg). Sanderien Verstappen (GDC member based at the University of Vienna, Austria) will moderate. The conversation will be in English, but we will try to provide Spanish transcripts. Please join us for this conversation on April 5 at 14 o’clock in Freiburg and 20 o’clock in Yogyakarta, which will be 8 am EST and 13 UTC.
