Development and application of a novel OECD test guideline on dispersion stability of nanomaterials

Standardized test guidelines (TGs) are required for a systematic assessment ofnanomaterials (NM) behavior and to provide essential data for regulation. Due totheir particulate nature, existing TGs developed by the Organisation for EconomicCo-operation and Development (OECD) are often not directly applicable to NMs.Here we present the rationale behind the development of OECD TG No. 318 onDispersion Stability of Nanomaterials in Simulated Environmental Media, thefirst OECD TG specifically designed for NMs.
