Description
Focusing on the concept of ‘sensibility’, this presentation focuses on the feminist movement and the fundamental role played by performance methodologies (from spoken drama to street performance and feminist actionism) in China in the new millennium. Over a period of more than two decades, the diverse feminist front has raised numerous issues (domestic violence, sexism, discrimination) to public attention and joined forces with the LGBTQ+ movement. In a context where feminism has progressively become a ‘sensitive issue’ and bordered on censorship, the movement's artistic sensibility has allowed it to renew its watchwords and mobilisation strategies - managing to change the public discourse substantially, despite the intimidating climate of the last decade.
