Inspired by the multimodal turn in anthropology, this round table explores how the concept of multimodality is or can be applied in India. While the tendency has been to discuss multimodality from the perspective of concerns in American and European institutions, this discussion centralizes concerns in Asia, focusing on India as long-term pioneering site of both audiovisual media production and social science scholarship.
This panel took place during the 12th International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS) on August 24-28, 2021.
