Description
Presentation about recent research concerning magnetoresistance measurements on magnsium diboride thin films. First, the potential applications of superconducting materials is discussed and fundamental properties of Abrikosov vortices, which are present in superconductors are characterized. Afterwards, the experimental results of a MgB2 thin film capped with a layer of MgO are shown, comparing two different bridge widths, that were used. The results show peculiar shapes of current-voltage curves, which indicate two conduction bands present in MgB2. The maximum vortex velocities are also calculated, showing potential record-high values, although it remains unclear to which point vortices are still present, due to the special shape of the current-voltage curve.
