Description
This contribution addresses the challenges in researching the COVID-19 pandemic by means of qualitative longitudinal research. The focus lies on research about families, elaborating on three main aspects: (a) dealing with exceptional circumstances that contribute (b) to considerable limitations of social science research, which (c) demands high awareness of ethical responsibility. Examples are drawn from the Austrian qualitative longitudinal study “Corona and Family Lives” that covers two years since the onset of the pandemic, relying on interviews and diary entries of 98 parents of kindergarten- and school-aged children. Respondents have been contacted repeatedly, and 12 waves of data collection have been completed between March 2020 and June 2022.Period | 13 Sep 2022 |
