Socioeconomic status and parental mediation relate to the use of digital devices by adolescents in ways which promote individual development

Description

The authors argue that adolescents’ (age 12-18) socioeconomic status (SES) and parental support impact their capabilities and attitudes to use digital technologies in ways which support individual development and integration in society, which is seen as digitally mature use. A two-wave study of 761 child-parent dyads supports that SES positively links to higher digital maturity in adolescents, which is partly mediated by active parental mediation.
