Description
The sheer number of reading experiences encountered by an individual on a daily basis in ecologically valid settings is surprisingly often overlooked and little is known about how reading is meaningfully distributed in our lives. The research conducted in this project (Reading in the City) aims to assess how attention is divided to readable objects of any kind, and specific reading occurrences when people walk along a city street, and also to study how aesthetic value (another variable known to attract attention) of text in everyday life affects its perception and its memorability. This short talk summarises and discusses how these research findings with a multidisciplinary focus (from perception, physiology, field and lab studies, theoretical work, and even graphic design theory) can be translated into real-life solutions and practical applications within industry.Period | 17 Jul 2024 |
