Personal profile

Research interests

I am mainly interested in the relationship between social context and physiology in group-living birds. My model species are the long-term monogamous greylag goose (Anser anser) and the seasonally monogamous and endangered northern bad ibis (Geronticus eremita). I am engaged in fostering citizen science as a tool of research approach. Therefore I involve citizens of any age in my behavioral research.

Special qualifications and skills

  • Planning and conducting field research including experimental approaches
  • Presenting scientific results to the scientific community (conferences, peer-reviewed journals)
  • Applying for research funds at national and international agencies
  • Supervising students and PhD candidates

Involving members of the society in the research process (companies as financial partners, education institutions as citizen scientists)

Presenting scientific results to the non-scientific community (outreach, local/national/international level)

Organizing scientific and outreach meetings at a regional and national level
