Personal profile

Research interests

My research interests are especially related to the archaeology of Roman antiquity, although I also repeatedly devote myself to findings from other periods. In this context I am strongly engaged in digital archaeology/digital humanities and interdisciplinary work in archaeology, focusing on settlement and landscape archaeology as well as funerary archaeology, also taking into account bioarchaeological approaches. In particular, I focus on rural settlement in the form of surveys, excavations, geophysical prospections, 3D documentation, and GIS analysis and visualization.  I also devote myself to experimental food archaeology by reconstructing the preparation process of simple dishes. Finally, I am intensively engaged in the field of Public Archaeology, especially by working closely with Citizen Scientists and communicating archaeological research results to an interested public both digitally and directly on site.
