Curriculum vitae

Elena Bacchin is a professor of Modern History – Historical European Studies at the University of Vienna. She was an associate professor at the University of Venice Ca’ Foscari, a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Global Fellow at Columbia University and Ca’ Foscari, a Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. She was also a Fellow at the Remarque Institute at New York University and at the University of St Andrews, and has been a visiting scholar at the University of California San Diego, the University of Oxford, and New York University. 

Her research interests include political exiles and forced mobility, the history of nationalism, political mobilisation and repression, and the relationship between political and religious identities.
