Curriculum vitae

I hold an MA (Diplom) in social science from Humboldt University Berlin (2006) and a Ph.D. in political science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2012). Previously I have been a pre-doctoral Fulbright fellow at the University of California, Irvine, a post-doctoral research fellow at the National University of Singapore, and an assistant professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. I am currently assistant professor at the Department of East Asian Studies, University of Vienna.

Research interests

My research is concerned with social conflict and cohesion in China, examining popular protest, environmental politics, social and political trust and political identities. I use both qualitative and quantitative methods and work with interviews, documentary, textual, survey, and event data.
