Ina Hein is Professor for Japanese Studies in the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Vienna in Austria. A graduate from Trier University (Germany) in Japanese and English/American Studies, she has gained her PhD degree from the University of Trier in Germany in 2003. She was a researcher in the DFG-funded project „Die ‚Hin- bzw. Rückwendung nach Asien’ in Literatur, Medien und Populärkultur Japans. Ein Faktor zur Herausbildung einer ‚asiatischen Identität’?“ (Trier University) for one year. From 2003 to 2010, she was assistant professor at the Department of Modern Japanese Studies at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf.
