Research interests

From December 2018 to April 2021, Katharina Limacher was a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Centre "Religion and Transformation in Contemporary Society." Since 2021, she is Programme Manager of the newly funded Vienna Doctoral School of Theology and Research on Religion VDTR. Katharina holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies (2018) from the University of Lucerne in Switzerland, where she also completed her Bachelor’s (2007) and Master’s degree (2009) in Sociology. Previous to her appointment at the University of Vienna, she conducted research at the universities of Berne and Lucerne in Switzerland and was a fellow at the Istituto Svizzero di Roma in Italy. Her current research interests comprise sociology of religion, research on religious youth, as well as topics at the intersection of politics and religion. She is member of the YouBeOn Research Team.
