Edit

I am interested in plant and ecosystem evolution. I am fascinated by plant diversity and structure, from anatomy to gross morphology. Understanding the interaction between the biosphere and the geosphere is key in deep time. I am particularly interested in the origination, diversity and strutures of plant defences and exudates like gum, mucilage and resin and how these may become fossilised (amber in particular is one of my specialities). I am curious as to what they can tell us about past ecosystems and potentially the effects of a warming climate on today's plants.
