EVIDENCE2e-CODEX

Project: Research funding

Project Details

Abstract

EVIDENCE2 e-Codex is a multi-party pre-pilot project that is funded by the European Union.

The EU ultimately aims to allow the secure and trusted exchange of digital evidence among EU Member States in the EIO (European Investigation Order Directive) and MLA (mutual legal assistance) context.

In order to reach that ambitious goal, numerous steps have to be taken. Besides i.a. generating the necessary awareness among involved actors, the legal framework has to be examined. In that context, the pre-pilot project "EVIDENCE2 e-Codex" not only aims to bring together stakeholders that are keen to implement a secure and trusted form of exchanging digital evidence, but also provide input for creating a legally valid instrument for said exchange related to MLA and EIO procedures over e-CODEX.
