Project Details

Abstract

VGSE offers a challenging and rigorous PhD program in economics. The school aims at attracting the very best students from Austria. Students train to become independent researchers and teachers.

The faculty members associated with VGSE are recognized by their peers as experts in their respective fields and are well connected to the international research community. The research areas of the faculty involved are closely interrelated, and together span both theoretical and applied topics that are of interest to PhD students.

Students obtain full funding to spend most of the three years on research for their dissertation. They present their research in internal seminars attended by their peers and VGSE faculty as well as international conferences. They defend their dissertation before a committee including external faculty. Successful graduates from VGSE take academic jobs, or high level positions government and international organizations, as well as the private sector.
