Abstract

The political and social context after the Tunisian revolution of 2011 and the democratic transition that followed highlight the necessary recourse to the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) in order to analyse the transformations under way and to feed the debates within the Tunisian society. In this context, improving the quality of training offered by doctoral schools in SSH is of strategic importance. The Raqmyat project will contribute to the emergence of a new paradigm of doctoral training in the SSH in Tunisia. This general objective will be addressed through the development of practices related to the inclusion of digital SSH and the reinforcement of transversal skills in the doctoral courses of seven Tunisian universities. By 2022, each beneficiary doctoral school will have a digital development strategy. A set of eight online training courses will be set up in order to initiate a maximum number of doctoral students in the partner universities to digital humanities and the use of digital tools for research. Tunisian teachers will be trained in the use of these modules as well as in pedagogical techniques for distance learning. Raqmyat will promote the development of "soft skills" related to digital technology in order to support the employability of doctoral students. During the project, each Tunisian university will organize a doctoral colloquium (“doctoriales”) allowing students to put into practice their research skills in partnership with socio-professional actors for the treatment of economic and social issues, national or regional, related to digital development. At the same time, two summer schools will allow the consolidation of a Euro-Tunisian group of PhD students in SSH who will be the founder of the community platform for the dissemination of research work in digital humanities, Raqmyat SHS.
