Abstract

In 2021, the collective Penser l’urbain par l’image launched a series of online workshops called “Produire, agencer, activer des archives” (Producing, arranging, activating archives), in which artists and researchers explored their use of archives. The discussions, recorded via videocall, could be accessed online, thereby becoming edited archives of their own. The recordings were reinterpreted in seven short videos, sparking unexpected connections between projects and concepts. Using a variety of options afforded by the interactive platform, participants could explore different ways of projecting archives beyond their disciplinary, cultural, and medium-specific contexts to engage instead with their performative and political dimension.
