    Abstract

The adsorption of carbon monooxide (CO) on the PtCo alloy surface was studied using scanning tunneling microscopy. The legand effects for CO adsorption on the Platinum (Pt) surface was demonstrated. The analysis of the image observed with chemical contrast of the alloy constituents and images of the same surface area showed that the adsorption of CO molecule took place on the Pt surface.
