Abstract

The data sets were measured at a LTER site in a wetland in the eastern reed belt of Lake Neusiedl near the Biological station Illmitz in Austria.
The following parameters were measured at each season (spring, summer, fall, winter):
- Diel methane (CH4) fluxes of each available emission pathway such as plant-mediated transport, diffusion at water-air interface, diffusion at sediment-air interface, ebullition
- Stable carbon isotope ratios of the diel chamber and ebullition trap measurements used for determination of 13C source signatures using the Keeling plot
- 13C-CH4 values of the collected ebulltion gases
- Sediment properties such as total organic carbon content (TOC), total inorganic carbon content (TIC), total carbon content (TC), gravimetric water content (WC), sulfate concentration, phosphate concentration, ammonium concentration, nitrate concentration, nitrite concentration, pH and electrical conductivity (EC) for the upper (L1) and lower sediment layer (L2).

Location of study site: 47.7693°N, 16.7576°E; 116 m asl
Time period of the four seasonal measurment campaigns: 29 and 30 March 2021 (spring), 28 and 28 June 2021 (summer), 28 and 29 September 2021 (fall), 22 and 23 February 2022 (winter)
File formats: CSV

The data sets correspond to the manuscript submitted to the EGU journal Biogeosciences as Baur et al.: Pathways of CH4 formation and emission in the subsaline reed wetland of Lake Neusiedl.
