Abstract

This contribution explores the concept of integrity as applied to plant life. It starts with an examination of the concept of „dignity“ as applied to plant life. This serves as a background for the discussion of problematic aspects of the application of integrity to plant life. The main argument states that the concept of integrity can avoid major problems that dignity raises, in particular the problem of a false assessment of the capacities of plant life. The contribution ends with some ideas about the reference frame for a reasonable application of integrity in the ethics of nature.
