Abstract
The focus of this chapter is an outlook on expected developments in sports information technology. To this end, the chapter begins by looking at recognizable trends and open problems in the field of sensor technology and wearables. This is followed by a description of the opportunities and challenges arising from the availability of large volumes of data (Big Data) and the potential of artificial intelligence methods for processing them. Here, the area of computer vision is addressed in particular. Finally, significant future applications of virtual and augmented reality and robotics in sports are outlined and a warning is given about the dangers of misusing data.
