Professional Vision – State of the art zum Konstrukt der professionellen Unterrichtswahrnehmung in der LehrerInnenbildung

Video use in teacher education has increased remarkably over the past two decades. Within this field of video-based teacher education and professional development there has been substantial research on different aspects of the concept of professional vision of pre- and in-service teachers. This article traces professional vision from its first conception in linguistic anthropology to its adaptation for teacher education and gives an overview of essential findings of and current trends in research conducted on the topic. The article concludes with some considerations for future research on pre- and in-service teachers’ professional vision within the context of their professional development.
