»Warum bin ich jetzt auf einmal so alt?« Alltagsorganisation und aktives Alter(n) unter den Bedingungen der COVID-19-Pandemie

Abstract

In modern societies, elderly people are expected to be highly active und productive. Active ageing is both an individual goal for many elderly people as well as a societal expectation. Current measures in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, fundamentally question the extent to which elderly people can and should actively participate in public life. This article takes active ageing as a model of a productive and successful ageing as starting point, and asks, under which conditions active ageing was possible in the first months of the Corona pandemic. For this purpose, the contribution draws on the perspectives and views of elderly people, which were collected via a representative survey and qualitative interviews in Lower Austria.
