Abstract
At first this article explains the structure of double documents in a short way. This is followed by a presentation of the two papyri SBV 8011 and P. Mich. VII 442. Thereby it will be pointed out that the content of P. Mich. VII 442 is in question so far. By comparing both papyri the article demonstrates – also using P. Catt. IV, Z. 4 – 6 – the reasons, why a permitted bestowal of a dowry during a valid marriage should be assumed.
